I learned an interesting thing on one of my trips to Africa.  When we think of lions and cape buffalo we think of predator and prey.  However, that is not always the case.  The cape buffalo herd will confront and attack a lion, especially if the lion is alone.   I witnessed just such and event and watching it unfold was pure Africa.  What this lion is doing is calling for help.  There is a herd of cape buffalo coming towards him and he needs to call for reinforcements.  The sound the lion was making is etched in my mind.  Africa is full of moments like these – life and death moments.
