As I stood and watched the waves beat against the jetty and concrete pillars it occurred to me that this represented a battle between the aggressive nature of the waves and the calm resistance of the concrete pillars. My mind conjured up the metaphor for “war and peace” and more so the battle between war and peace. It is ongoing and I suspect will continue as long as we are here on the earth.
